What are the differences between PP wheels and POM wheels on top section?
1. Different properties: polypropylene (PP) extruded sheet is a plastic sheet made of PP resin with various functional additives through extrusion, calendering, cooling, cutting and other processes. POM polyoxymethylene is a linear polymer with no side chain, high density and high crystallinity.
2. Different characteristics: POM plastics have slightly lower acid-base stability; The density, crystallinity, melting point and strength of CO formaldehyde are low, but the thermal stability is good. PP plastic board is a semi crystalline material, which is harder than PE and has a higher melting point.
3. Different properties: the strength of PP increases with the increase of ethylene content. The Vicat softening temperature of PP is 150 ℃. The main reinforcement materials of POM plastics are glass fiber, glass ball or carbon fiber, and glass fiber is the most commonly used. After reinforcement, the mechanical properties can be improved by 2 ~ 3 times, and the thermal deformation temperature can be increased by more than 50 ℃.
Which Wheel Material Should You Choose?
Both PP (Polypropylene) and POM (Polyoxymethylene) wheels are used in truss tower top sections, but they are designed for different performance requirements.
Generally:
PP Wheels are lightweight, economical, and suitable for standard lifting applications where operating frequency is relatively low.
POM Wheels provide higher strength, better wear resistance, lower friction, and greater dimensional stability. They are better suited for professional rental companies and truss towers that are assembled and operated frequently.
When selecting a top section, the wheel material should be considered together with the tower's lifting frequency, environmental conditions, maintenance requirements, and expected service life.
