Product Description

The DragonStage 10.27x3.24m Switchback Modular Aluminum Stage Ramp is designed for temporary stage projects that require a long access route within a relatively narrow footprint.

Instead of extending the ramp in one straight direction, the system uses two parallel ramp runs connected by an intermediate turning landing. The access route travels along one side, turns at the landing, and continues in the opposite direction.

The overall footprint shown in the drawing is approximately:

33 ft 8⅜ in × 10 ft 7½ in
10.27m × 3.24m

The ramp surface is assembled from standard 4 × 4 ft / 1.22 × 1.22m modular deck sections, allowing the complete system to be transported, assembled, replaced, and reconfigured as individual modules.

For other ramp configurations, see Typical Aluminum Ramp.

For compatible temporary stage systems, see Stage Platform.

Switchback Layout with Turning Landing

The key feature of this product is the switchback / U-shaped layout.

The system includes:

  • first inclined ramp run

  • intermediate turning landing

  • second parallel ramp run

  • lower entry area

  • upper stage connection area

  • guardrails along both sides

This configuration allows a relatively long access route to fit into a site only about 3.24m wide.

Standard 4 × 4 ft Modular Ramp Panels

Each standard ramp deck measures:

4 × 4 ft / approximately 1.22 × 1.22m

The same module can be used throughout the system to form:

  • inclined ramp sections

  • turning landing areas

  • transition sections

  • upper stage connection areas

Using a repeated standard panel size simplifies transport, storage, replacement, and future layout adjustment.

Dual-Side Guardrails

Guardrails are installed along both sides of the complete access route.

Confirmed guardrail height:

3.28 ft / 1.0m

The guardrails continue along both ramp runs and the turning area, providing a clearly defined route from ground level to the stage.

Why Choose a Switchback Ramp?

A straight ramp requires a large uninterrupted area in one direction.

The switchback layout folds the access route back alongside itself.

This makes it practical where:

  • front-stage space is limited

  • the venue is long but narrow

  • the ramp needs to remain beside the stage

  • audience traffic needs to stay clear

  • production equipment occupies other parts of the site

The main advantage is therefore space efficiency, while still keeping a continuous ramp route.

Compact Version of the Switchback Ramp

Compared with the longer 12.25 × 3.24m switchback configuration, this version reduces the overall length to approximately 10.27m while maintaining the same general U-shaped layout and 3.24m overall width.

This makes it useful when the event site cannot accommodate the longer version.

The final stage height and ramp slope should be confirmed before the exact number of deck and support modules is finalized.

  • Imperial footprint approximately 33 ft 8⅜ in × 10 ft 7½ in

  • Switchback / U-shaped configuration

  • Two parallel ramp runs

  • Intermediate turning landing

  • Standard 1.22 × 1.22m / 4 × 4 ft deck modules

  • Aluminum support structure

  • Guardrails on both sides

  • Guardrail height 1m / 3.28ft

  • Compact footprint

  • Easy to transport and store

  • Suitable for repeated temporary-event installation

  • Custom configuration available

Typical Applications

  • Concert stages

  • Wedding stages

  • School stages

  • Graduation platforms

  • Church stages

  • Corporate events

  • Exhibition platforms

  • Public event stages

  • Temporary performance stages

  • Wheelchair stage access

  • Wheeled equipment access

  • Production equipment routes

Suitable for Stage and Equipment Access

The continuous inclined route can be used where stair-only access is not suitable.

Typical uses include:

  • performers

  • event staff

  • wheelchair access

  • wheeled production cases

  • carts

  • suitable event equipment

The final support heights and structural configuration should be confirmed according to the actual stage height and intended use.

Modular Aluminum Structure

The ramp is designed as a temporary modular system rather than a permanent fixed structure.

This provides practical advantages for:

  • transportation

  • storage

  • repeated setup

  • individual component replacement

  • stage-height changes

  • future expansion

  • layout reconfiguration

The final number of ramp panels, support legs, landing sections, and connection components is determined by the confirmed project layout.

How to Confirm the Correct Ramp Configuration

Before production, please provide:

  • finished stage height

  • available ground length

  • available ground width

  • preferred entry direction

  • stage connection position

  • intended users

  • whether wheeled equipment will use the ramp

  • required load

These details allow the final slope, support heights, deck quantities, and landing configuration to be confirmed.

Important Product Note

The confirmed configuration includes:

  • overall dimensions: 404⅜ in × 127½ in

  • metric dimensions: approximately 10.27 × 3.24m

  • standard deck size: 4 × 4 ft / 1.22 × 1.22m

  • switchback / U-shaped layout

  • intermediate turning landing

  • aluminum support structure

  • guardrails on both sides

  • guardrail height: 1m / 3.28ft

The final stage height, ramp slope, allowable load, support arrangement, and stage connection details should be confirmed according to the actual project.

FAQ

What is the overall size of this ramp?
The overall footprint is approximately 404⅜ in × 127½ in, equal to approximately 33 ft 8⅜ in × 10 ft 7½ in, or about 10.27m × 3.24m.

What type of ramp layout is this?
It uses a switchback / U-shaped layout with two parallel ramp runs connected by an intermediate landing.

What size is each standard ramp deck?
Each standard panel is 4 × 4 ft / approximately 1.22 × 1.22m.

How high are the guardrails?
The guardrail height is 1.0m / approximately 3.28ft.

Are guardrails installed on both sides?
Yes. Guardrails are installed along both sides of the access route.

Why use a switchback ramp instead of a straight ramp?
The switchback layout allows a long access route to fit inside a narrower event-site footprint.

How is this version different from the 12.25x3.24m model?
This version has the same basic switchback concept but reduces the overall length to approximately 10.27m, making it suitable for more compact sites.

Can the ramp be used for wheelchair access?
Yes. The continuous inclined layout can be configured for wheelchair access according to the actual stage height and required ramp geometry.

Can equipment cases be moved along the ramp?
Yes, the ramp can be configured for suitable wheeled event equipment, subject to the required load being confirmed.

Can the switchback direction be reversed?
Yes. The modular configuration can be arranged according to the actual stage position and site layout.

Can the length be customized?
Yes. The number of deck modules and total ramp length can be adjusted according to stage height and available space.

Can this ramp be supplied together with a stage?
Yes. DragonStage can supply it together with a complete Stage Platform system.

Why Choose DragonStage

DragonStage supplies complete temporary stage systems together with ramps, stairs, guardrails, and other Stage Accessories.

Because this ramp uses standard 1.22 × 1.22m modular panels, the final layout can be adjusted according to actual stage height and site conditions rather than being limited to one permanently fixed configuration.

Soft CTA
