Product Description

The DragonStage 12.25x3.24m Switchback Modular Aluminum Stage Ramp is designed for event projects that require a long access route but do not have enough space for one continuous straight ramp.

The system uses two parallel ramp runs connected by an intermediate turning landing. Users travel along the first inclined section, turn at the landing, and continue in the opposite direction toward the stage or ground level.

This layout keeps the complete access route within an overall footprint of approximately:

40 ft 2¼ in × 10 ft 7½ in
12.25m × 3.24m

The ramp is built from standard 4 × 4 ft / 1.22 × 1.22m modular deck sections, allowing individual components to be transported, assembled, replaced, or reconfigured separately.

For other modular ramp configurations, see Typical Aluminum Ramp.

For compatible event platform systems, see Stage Platform.

Switchback Layout with Turning Landing

The main feature of this product is its switchback / U-shaped layout.

Instead of extending the full ramp in one direction, the access route folds back alongside itself.

The layout includes:

  • first inclined ramp run

  • intermediate turning landing

  • second parallel ramp run

  • upper stage connection area

  • lower entry area

  • guardrails along both sides

This makes the system particularly useful when the available event site is long but relatively narrow.

Standard 4 × 4 ft Modular Ramp Decks

Each standard ramp deck measures:

4 × 4 ft / approximately 1.22 × 1.22m

Using a repeated standard deck module makes the ramp system easier to manage as a modular product.

The same basic deck size can be used to form:

  • inclined ramp sections

  • turning landings

  • transition areas

  • upper connection areas

This modular format also makes transportation and storage easier than manufacturing the complete ramp as one long welded structure.

Dual-Side Guardrails

Guardrails are installed along both sides of the ramp, including the inclined sections and turning areas.

Confirmed guardrail height:

3.28 ft / 1.0m

The guardrails create a defined access route and provide continuous side protection along the ramp.

Why Use a Switchback Ramp?

A long straight ramp requires a large amount of uninterrupted floor space.

The switchback layout reduces the required straight-line distance by arranging the two ramp runs parallel to each other.

This makes it practical when:

  • space in front of the stage is limited

  • the ramp needs to remain along the side of the stage

  • audience circulation must remain open

  • production equipment occupies the front-stage area

  • the site is long but relatively narrow

The advantage is not that the access route becomes shorter, but that the same route can fit into a more compact site layout.

  • Switchback / U-shaped layout

  • Two parallel ramp runs

  • Intermediate turning landing

  • Standard 1.22 × 1.22m / 4 × 4 ft ramp deck modules

  • Aluminum support structure

  • Guardrails on both sides

  • Guardrail height 1m / 3.28ft

  • Modular construction

  • Easy to transport and store

  • Suitable for repeated event installation

  • Can be customized according to stage height and site conditions

Typical Applications

  • Concert stages

  • Wedding stages

  • School stages

  • Graduation platforms

  • Church stages

  • Corporate events

  • Exhibition platforms

  • Public event stages

  • Temporary performance stages

  • Wheelchair stage access

  • Wheeled equipment access

  • Production equipment routes

Suitable for Stage and Equipment Access

The continuous inclined route can be used where stairs are not the preferred access method.

Typical uses include:

  • performer access

  • wheelchair access

  • event staff access

  • wheeled production cases

  • carts

  • light event equipment

The required support height and ramp configuration should be confirmed according to the actual stage height and intended use.

Modular Aluminum Structure

The ramp is designed as a temporary modular event structure.

This provides practical advantages for:

  • transportation

  • storage

  • repeated setup

  • component replacement

  • future layout adjustment

  • stage-height changes

  • expansion or reduction of the ramp system

The final number of ramp panels, support legs, landing panels, and connection components is determined by the confirmed project layout.

How to Confirm the Correct Ramp Configuration

Before production, please provide:

  • finished stage height

  • available ground length

  • available ground width

  • preferred ramp entry direction

  • stage connection position

  • intended users

  • whether wheeled equipment will use the ramp

  • required load

These details allow the final slope, support heights, deck quantities, and landing configuration to be confirmed.

Important Product Note

The confirmed configuration includes:

  • overall footprint: 482¼ in × 127½ in

  • metric footprint: approximately 12.25 × 3.24m

  • standard deck size: 4 × 4 ft / 1.22 × 1.22m

  • switchback / U-shaped layout

  • intermediate landing

  • aluminum structure

  • guardrails on both sides

  • guardrail height: 1m / 3.28ft

The final stage height, ramp slope, allowable load, support arrangement, and connection details should be confirmed according to the actual project.

FAQ

What is the overall size of this ramp?
The overall footprint is approximately 482¼ in × 127½ in, equal to about 40 ft 2¼ in × 10 ft 7½ in, or approximately 12.25m × 3.24m.

What type of layout does this ramp use?
It uses a switchback / U-shaped layout with two parallel ramp runs connected by a turning landing.

What size is each standard ramp deck?
Each standard deck module is 4 × 4 ft / approximately 1.22 × 1.22m.

How high are the guardrails?
The guardrail height is 1.0m / approximately 3.28ft.

Are guardrails installed on both sides?
Yes. Guardrails are installed along both sides of the ramp route.

Why use a switchback ramp?
It allows a long access route to fit within a relatively narrow event site by arranging the ramp runs parallel to each other.

Can the ramp be used for wheelchair access?
Yes. The continuous ramp layout can be configured for wheelchair access according to the required stage height and final ramp layout.

Can equipment cases be moved along the ramp?
Yes, the ramp can also be configured for wheeled production equipment, subject to the required load being confirmed.

Can the direction of the switchback be changed?
Yes. The layout can be arranged according to the stage position and available site space.

Can the ramp length be customized?
Yes. The number of modular ramp sections can be adjusted according to the stage height and required layout.

Can the ramp width be customized?
Yes. The standard design uses 1.22m modules, but other configurations can be discussed according to the project.

Can this ramp be supplied together with a stage?
Yes. DragonStage can supply the ramp together with a complete Stage Platform system.

Why Choose DragonStage

DragonStage supplies complete temporary stage systems together with ramps, stairs, guardrails, and other Stage Accessories.

Because the ramp uses modular 1.22 × 1.22m sections, the final access system can be configured according to the actual stage height and available site space rather than forcing every project to use one fixed layout.

Soft CTA

For quotation, please provide:
